My Peg: Another Wide Leg Pants Story

This is the inspiration for the shoot I had for Chic Vintage.

And here's my version, kind of vintage-really vintage with all these editing efforts to make the pictures appear to be of the same era as the top I am wearing.

I have to sell this vintage wide leg pants.  And guess what, somebody had already made her reservation for this.  Me.. all smiles here.

Blood Red

It was Saturday and had to render overtime work again.  I guess my future Saturday schedules are most likely be dedicated to my M-F day job.
Enough of that, I wore this bloody red skirt yesterday for my overtime work, paired it with my black fitted  tee and my black patent leather wedges.  I realized yesterday that  wearing maxi skirt to work is super comfy.  It gave me soo much freedom to move around especially when my tasks demanded a lot of motion.
How do you spend your Saturdays?
I tagged along my iPAd to work (but on Saturdays only) since I am into mastering my running - jumping - sliding skills in TEMPLE RUN.

Seemingly Vintage

Vintage Clothing has been an essential influence to the delineation of my own fashion sense.

My outfit in this post is a melange of seemingly vintage apparel,
sad, i just can't determine the specific era(s) / decade(s) of each item.

I'm not just a fan of vintage style but certainly a true blue advocate.  I don't dwell on the specifics of a particular era or decade, as long as it looks vintage, it will definitely capture my interest.

Are you into vintage clothing?  Share your stories ladies.

It's Ok to Excessorize

EXCESSORIZE, it's a ''hybrid'' terminology for excess and accessorize.

I put on together bangles and neck-pieces for this look.  I am not actually a fan of having ''too many'' on.  This time,  had a chance to display some of the accessories for sale at Chic Vintage.

I am wearing DENIM top and dress.

Fashion Lesson:
DENIM
Denim (which gets its name from the French town of Nîmes (de Nîmes)) is a ruggedcotton twill textile, in which the weft passes under two (twi- "double") or more warpthreads.
Trend Alert:
Denim is one of the spring/summer trends for 2012.

The Black and White Color Story

Fashion Lesson:
How to Look Great in Black and White
via about.com

1.) Wear BLACK top, WHITE bottom

2.) Wear WHITE top, BLACK bottom

3.) Play with Proportions

4.) Add Texture

5.) Bold Lines

6.) Allover Print

7.) Mix Sheer with Tailored

The black and white color never fails me.  It's my no-brainer fashion color.
It's a forever love.
The color combination is equally brilliant, stylish and elegant.

Here's me wearing the color combo on a Sunday morning.

My version:
a mix of Black and White with Proportions on Top and Black on the Bottom
I wore this outfit on a Sunday morning mass.  We can never wear too short skirts when we go to church.  The length of this skirt is perfect, plus it is equally stylish (see the uneven hemline).

Lace

Fashion Lesson 103:
LACE

Lace is an openwork fabric, patterned with open holes in the work, made by machine or by hand. The holes can be formed via removal of threads or cloth from a previously woven fabric, but more often open spaces are created as part of the lace fabric. Lace-making is an ancient craft. True lace was not made until the late 15th and early 16th centuries. A true lace is created when a thread is looped, twisted or braided to other threads independently from a backing fabric.

There are many types of lace, classified by how they are made. These include:
  • Needle lace; such as Kenmare Lace are made using a needle and thread. This is the most flexible of the lace-making arts. While some types can be made more quickly than the finest of bobbin laces, others are very time-consuming. Some purists regard needle lace as the height of lace-making. The finest antique needle laces were [made] from a very fine thread that is not manufactured today.
  • Cutwork, or whitework; lace constructed by removing threads from a woven background, and the remaining threads wrapped or filled with embroidery.
  • Bobbin Lace; as the name suggests, made with bobbins and a pillow. The bobbins, turned from wood, bone or plastic, hold threads which are woven together and held in place with pins stuck in the pattern on the pillow. The pillow contains straw, preferably oat straw or other materials such as sawdust, insulation styrofoam or ethafoam. Also known as Bone-lace.Chantilly lace is a type of bobbin lace.
  • Tape lace; makes the tape in the lace as it is worked, or uses a machine- or hand-made textile strip formed into a design, then joined and embellished with needle or bobbin lace.
  • Knitted lace; including Shetland lace, such as the "wedding ring shawl", a lace shawl so fine that it can be pulled through a wedding ring.
  • Machine-made; any style of lace created or replicated using mechanical means.
  • Guipure; The stitching area is stitched with embroidery threads that form a continuous motif. Afterwards, the stitching areas are removed and only the embroidery remains. The stitching ground is made of water-soluble or non heat-resistant material.

Here's a sample of a vintage blouse made of LACE.

This lace top is available at I DRESS UP.

This vintage top is already sold!

I had fun at the start of this shoot for I DRESS UP, then later felt some shiver on my spine since my photographer/assistant/niece kept on telling me that my poses and look reminded her of the movie SEGUNDO MANO.  I got scared!
The lace blouse gives you an instant mix of romantic-repugnance look.

Playing with my Black and White Hats

Tonight is the last night of the Christmas Nights Bazaar.  Bye for now to my booth partners, don't know when will we meet again.  Rest assured I'm just a text message away.
I'm quite melancholic...  going to the bazaar after work, every night for the last 25 days has been then part of my (our) daily routine.  And now, that routine has ended, drastic culmination and business at the bazaar has put into halt too.  F.y.i. business is going on at the web ... cyEcle is always available online, plus the unveiling of I DRESS UP is scheduled on the first of January 2012.

I'm sharing here tonight two of the "little" hats, as I love to call them, that were displayed at the booth for sale.
Meet BLACK (colored black) and WINTER (colored white).
